Sydenham

Sydenham Town is an excellent community website.

St Bartholomew's Church Westwood Hill, Sydenham. A well-written site that mentions the painter Camille Pissarro's visit to the area and shows his painting of the church at the end of Lawrie Park Avenue.

The Crystal Palace Campaign has succeeded in its popular campaign against an inappropriate plan to redevelop the historic site where the original Crystal Palace used to stand. There is news, history, anecdotes, forthcoming events, details of the legal challenge and fund-raising. There are also links to other environmental, Victoriana and London Park web-sites.

A couple of miles away is the fantastic Horniman Museum.

Local government: most of Sydenham is in Lewisham, and the south-east corner is in Bromley. There is a local business directory called Sydenham TownTalk

Although Baldwin's is some distance away in the Walworth Road, SE1, it is one of South-East London's most wonderful shops. You can now buy their herbs, natural remedies, incense, etc on-line, but the shop is well worth a visit. While you browse, enjoy a glass of Baldwin's Delightfully Refreshing Sarsaparilla. It will give you bright eyes, pure blood, and it prevents cliff erosion.
